The Cheer Her On Anthem

In an age of self-help, we help one another get brave.
get real.
get free.

In a generation of individuality, we come together.
to cheer. to pray. to struggle. to walk it out.
Together.

In a world that says, "speak your truth," we say
the Truth will set you free.
the Truth is the Word of God.
It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

In a time of arguing, we get quiet before Jesus.

We ask Him before preaching a word.
We listen to one another.
We have conversations, not just confrontations.
In a moment when the world feels dark, we bring Light.

We sing and dance and rejoice in Christ.
We sit and grieve and weep and ask questions of Christ.
We stand and walk and move and speak with Hope, even if it's shaky and our steps are uncertain.

In a culture that tries to filter and clean up and be "fine," we are messy and hurting and honest and doubtful.
We bring our mistakes and weaknesses and shortcomings to the table.
We confess our struggles and we ask for help.

In a society that convinces us to compete with our fellow sister,
we put on her team colors.
We paint our faces.
We show up in the stands.

And we cheer her on.

We are fully here for it.

We aren't leaving at halftime.
We brought a jacket for when it gets cold.
We will cheer her on to the bitter end.

in victory or defeat.

in joy or sorrow.

in gain or loss.

To the glory of God, with hearts full of compassion and
hands full of hope and words full of truth,
We cheer her on.
We cheer her on.
We cheer her on.

Hey, Girl.

My name is Melissa and Cheer Her On is a dream I’ve carried for a few years. If you’re here, it’s because a miracle happened and this is real.

I’m a theology-loving, word-smithing, joke-making gal who believes the holy is right here. And the best parts of our lives aren’t behind a mic or in front of a camera—they’re in our communities. God made us to learn from one another, and that’s exactly what Cheer Her On is all about. Let’s celebrate the women who raised us, the ones who sat with us in sorrow and the ones who lost their voices cheering us toward the Truth.
